NSCL alumni receives presidential award

NSCL alumnus Shea Mosby, recently received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). Shea received his Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2011, studying the structure of neutron-unbound nuclei within the MoNA collaboration. After graduating from MSU he became a postdoctoral research associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and was converted to a technical staff member in 2014. While at Los Alamos he has been working on the study of neutron-capture reactions and nuclear fission. Shea is currently investigating novel techniques for the study of neutron-capture reactions on unstable nuclei.

The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers. The awards are conferred annually at the White House following recommendations from participating agencies.
