Guest Speaker
NSCL faculty members are eager to share the excitement of their work with school children of all ages. Physics may sound intimidating, but it’s really about exploration. These scientists are modern-day explorers who seek answers to some big questions:
- Why do tiny nuclei drive the life-cycle of massive stars?
- Where do the elements in our bodies come from?
- How many isotopes are yet to be discovered?”
Our scientists can pick up where the glorious pictures from the Hubble telescope leave off to discuss how astrophysics seeks to understand how the elements were formed. They also discuss why basic research is important in forming new science and technologies.
Outreach staff can offer a tutorial on the research done at NSCL or even an exploration of the careers available in laboratory science!
Contact the NSCL Outreach Coordinator to request a speaker.
