NSCL Open House


A visitor to the 2006 Open House learns how NSCL operators control experimental systems.

Where: NSCL, Michigan State University

How long: up to 4 hours

What: NSCL opens its doors for the community. The afternoon of free activities will show hundreds of visitors behind the scenes of our research and facility.

  • Continuous showings of “Nucleus Factory”, the PBS documentary about NSCL
  • A Demonstration Fair where scientists show off everything from superconducting magnets to nuclear decay
  • Guided tours with a specialist in each room, ready to introduce guests to the lab’s complex and powerful machinery
  • A children’s corner, art exhibit, and much more
